Honor Award in the 2023 SARA Student National Design Awards

This is wonderful recognition for the efforts of students to work together in the FACT designbuild studio to bring the vision of Partners for Livable Omaha to reality.

SARA is The Society of American Registered Architects, a vibrant professional organization of architects and industry related partners guided by the mantra, “Architect Helping Architect.” Founded in 1956, SARA is a national organization with active councils and chapters throughout the country, as well as international members. SARA focuses on fellowship, friendship and mentorship.

Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Design-Build Award

The FACT project Omaha Mobile Stage won an Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Design-Build Award in the 2023 Architectural Education Awards. The 2023 Architectural Education Awards honor architectural educators for exemplary work in areas such as building design, community collaborations, scholarship, and service. The award-winning professors inspire and challenge students, contribute to the profession’s knowledge base, and extend their work beyond the borders of academia into practice and the public sector. The Design-Build Award honors the best practices in school-based design-build projects.

FACT (Fabrication And Construction Team) is a collaborative student designbuild studio at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln that engages design, fabrication, and construction projects with cultural and non-profit clients. FACT is a forum for exploring the complex relationships between thinking (conceiving, designing, theorizing) and making. Where academic design studios focus on ideation, conceptualization, and design development, FACT explores the creative opportunities residing in the development and realization of projects. FACT was founded in 2001 by Professor Jeffrey L. Day, FAIA and frequently collaborates with Actual Architecture Company.
