Open positions for 2024 Season

In 2021, Partners for Livable Omaha created a Creative Industries Training program to support the Omaha Mobile Stage construction and operations. More than 36 young adults have participated in the program since 2021.

Current Openings for Season 3 during April-October 2024.

  • Assistant Audio Engineer (ages 18+)

  • Audio Engineer Internship (ages 16+)

During each performance season, participants receive: 

  • paid skills training focused on the technical careers in the live event production and entertainment industries

  • mentorship and paid work experience alongside industry professionals

  • skills and experience in a hands-on environment

  • referrals to continued employment and training opportunities with other venues in the Omaha metro, as well as the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 42 (ages 18+)

At the end of each season, participants are better prepared for employment with: 

  • live music venues and performing arts facilities 

  • arts and culture organizations

  • event production, sound, lighting and design companies


Assistant Audio Engineer

Assistant Audio Engineers work with the Omaha Mobile Stage production manager, who oversees all technical aspects of each live event. Prior entry-level experience or training working in live sound engineering is required.

Stipend: $15-20/hour, depending on skill level

Age requirement: 18 years or older.

In-person or virtual: In-person only.

Skills/Requirement:

  • Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 pounds).

  • Ability to manage stress, and move and communicate quickly to resolve unforeseeable technical issues as they arise during live events.

  • Ability to communicate before, during, and after events with performing artists, event managers, and other production staff to keep events on schedule and running smoothly from set up to tear down.

  • Ability to be a team leader and supervise others who are learning new skills.

  • Complete the OMS Audio Engineer Internship or similar training.

  • Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Must be reliable. Absenteeism from any scheduled work without calling or showing up for work is an automatic dismissal from this training program.

Transportation: Must be able to provide your own transportation to live event locations. Bus passes will be provided as requested. Training takes place indoors at a downtown Omaha location.

Audio Engineer Internship

Audio Engineer Interns will receive training on professional audio equipment and learn stagehand and event management tasks.  

After completing this 3-month/12-event internship, you may apply for the “Assistant Audio Engineer” position.

Stipend: $12/hour

Requirements: Applicants must be able to attend 10 hours of pre-season training and work a minimum of 12 live events (an average of 4 events per month for 3 months).

Age requirement: 16 years or older. There is no age maximum.

In-person or virtual: In-person only.

Skills:

  • Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 pounds).

  • Desire to work hard in a team environment, and constantly seek additional work and opportunities to learn more skills as tasks are completed.
