SOUNDSPARK is an art event taking place during Benson First Friday on May 3, 2024 from 6-10pm.

Featured Artists: Travis Apel, Alex Jacobsen, Lillian Kraft, Colectivo Mictlan, Nick Spencer, and Things I Tell You.

Dr. Seth Shafer, Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Nebraska Omaha, will give a lecture titled, “Sounding Out: Community Building Through Public Sound Installation Art.” The lecture will begin at 7 pm at Trudy’s at 2814 N 60th St, Omaha, NE 68104.

SOUNDSPARK is led by the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s School of Music and is a brand new sound art event in Omaha.

TAPEnsemble and collaborators will be organizing, running, and presenting work in SOUNDSPARK. TAPEnsemble is a student technology-oriented artist-creator collective anchored in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Music Technology program.

Artist stipends and workshop space for SOUNDSPARK are made possible by the generous support of Omaha Mobile Stage, Dundee Bank, Humanities Nebraska, and Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
