The Inaugural Porchfest OMA was held Fall of 2017. 18 bands and solo artists were hosted on 5 porches, and 10+ performers on the open mic stage. The 2018 event was postponed due to rain and ultimately canceled the next weekend due to snow, although we had 26 acts ready to perform. 2019 returned with 32 performances on 8 porches. 2020 was canceled due to the pandemic, 2021 returned with 20 performances on 10 stages, an open mic, and the addition of a poetry porch. Then 2022 topped us out with 70+ performers!
Porchfest began in 2007 as a small neighborhood festival in Ithaca, New York; it has now expanded to more than 100 partner festivals across the United States and Canada. The mission of the event is to celebrate the vital creative community through music and art. Entire neighborhoods of families and friends experience the free event every year.
Gifford Park is a diverse community in Midtown Omaha; it hosts an annual street festival (33rd Friday), a Farmer’s Market since 2008, offers a community garden and has sustained a neighborhood association committed to preserving and uplifting the community since 1988. It is the perfect home for Porchfest!
Porchfest OMA is an E3 Music Management production with the Gifford Park Neighborhood Association.
